BIOINFORMATICS/COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY Washington & Lee University announces an opening for a bioinformatics/computational biologist at the ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level in the Department of Biology. This position is part of a University and Howard Hughes Medical Institute funded initiative to provide leadership to strengthen teaching and research in the application of bioinformatics/computational biology to various areas of biological sciences, and to increase collaborative interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving. Area of expertise is open, but we encourage applicants with interests in mathematical models or computational techniques in the study of biological systems, or the development and use of quantitative strategies for integrating diverse types of biological information. The successful candidate will teach courses in bioinformatics/computational biology, and pursue an independent research program in her/his area of specialization in which undergraduate students can be actively involved. Completion of the Ph.D. and a record of teaching and research accomplishments in bioinformatics or computational biology is required. Starting date is 1 July 2009, and applications will be accepted until 1st November 2008. A complete description of the sciences is accessible from the university web site: http://www.wlu.edu.
